Christmas Time?

Simeon Sees God’s Salvation  from Luke 2:

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation
31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,
32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel.”

33 And Joseph and His mother[h] marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (NKJV)

—   Even though the birth date of Christ’s birth was September 11th 3 B.C.E., somehow the pagan ideas got the whole season of Christmas to be held around December 25th (winter solstice ) and many pagan ideas came along with it.  Hopefully you will be more aware of Christ at this time than the pagan things that tend to crowd him out.
This amazing passage above where Simeon, a very old man at this time, saw the tiny baby Jesus and God’s spirit made him aware that here is the Savior of the Whole World.  God is Salvation is in fact the meaning of the name of this small baby in his arms.  In fact verse 31 seems to lend credence to similar verses throughout the word of God that declare him to be more than just a savior of a few… but instead the savior of the whole world.  Joy to the world can thus be proclaimed. And yet at the same time, many hearts will be revealed as to what is our intentions.  Are we seeking for the one who is most treasured?  Romans 3:10-11 tells us that there are none who seek after God. Therefore it must be deduced that God is the one who seeks us, loves us, draws us, leads us to repentance, and will someday make ALL things New!
